Refund policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
This Return and Refund Policy explains how returns, refunds, exchanges and cancellations work for orders placed at gemiddleton.shop. The store is run under the trading name G.E. Middleton by G.E. Middleton & Co Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”).
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
1. Our 30-day returns offer
If you change your mind about an item, you can ask to return it within 30 days of the day it was delivered to you. This is longer than the 14-day cancellation period that the law gives you for online purchases, and it includes that statutory period.
If your order arrives in more than one parcel, the 30 days run from the day you receive the last item in that order.
2. How to start a return
To start a return, email contact@gemiddleton.shop within the 30-day window and include:
- your order number;
- the name and email address used for the order;
- the item or items you would like to return; and
- the reason for the return (for change-of-mind returns you do not have to give a reason, but it helps us process your request).
We will reply with return instructions, including the correct address to send your return to. Please wait for our instructions before posting anything, so that your parcel goes to the right place and can be matched to your order quickly. Telling us within the 30 days is what counts: once you have contacted us, please send the item back within 14 days.
You can also call us on +44 161 872 8409 during our opening hours if you need help.
3. Condition of change-of-mind returns
For change-of-mind returns, please:
- return the item complete, with its accessories, cables, chargers, manuals and any free items supplied with it;
- include the original packaging where reasonably possible, and pack the item securely so it is protected in transit; and
- for phones, laptops and smart watches, sign out of any personal accounts, remove passwords, PINs and device locks (for example activation or “find my device” locks), and reset the device to factory settings so that it can be checked and so your personal data is removed.
You may handle an item as you would in a shop to check what it is and how it works. If an item has been handled or used beyond that and its value has gone down as a result, we may reduce the refund to reflect that loss of value, as the law allows. If we plan to make a deduction, we will explain why before the refund is issued.
These conditions apply only to change-of-mind returns. They do not limit your rights for faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed goods (see section 5).
4. Return postage
- Change-of-mind returns: you are responsible for the cost of sending the item back to us. We recommend using a tracked service and keeping your proof of postage, because the item remains your responsibility until it reaches us.
- Faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed goods: we will cover the reasonable cost of returning the item. We will explain how when you contact us.
We do not charge a restocking fee.
5. Faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed items
If an item arrives damaged, is not what you ordered, does not match its description, or develops a fault, please contact us at contact@gemiddleton.shop as soon as you can with your order number, a description of the problem and, where possible, photos.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. In summary:
- within 30 days of delivery you can reject faulty goods and get a full refund;
- after that, or if you prefer, you can ask for a repair or replacement; if a repair or replacement is not possible or does not fix the problem, you may be entitled to a price reduction or a refund; and
- if a fault appears within six months of delivery, it is generally presumed to have been there at delivery unless we can show otherwise.
These rights do not depend on the item being unused, in its original packaging, or returned within our 30-day change-of-mind window, and they apply even if you have not contacted us before reporting a problem. We may need to inspect an item or arrange for it to be checked in order to confirm a fault.
6. Refunds
We will refund you to the original payment method used for your order.
- Change-of-mind returns: we will refund the price of the item and the delivery charge you paid for standard delivery (standard delivery is free, so there is normally no delivery charge to refund). If you paid for a faster delivery option, we only have to refund the cost of standard delivery. We will issue the refund within 14 days of receiving the item back, or within 14 days of you providing proof that you have sent it back, whichever is earlier.
- Faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed goods: where a refund is due, we will refund the item price and the delivery charges you paid, and issue the refund within 14 days of agreeing that you are entitled to it.
We will email you when your refund has been issued. Banks and card providers can take several more working days to show the money in your account; this extra time is outside our control.
7. Cancelling an order before it is dispatched
If you would like to cancel an order that has not yet been dispatched, email contact@gemiddleton.shop or call +44 161 872 8409 as soon as possible with your order number. If the order has not been dispatched, we will cancel it and refund you in full. If it has already been dispatched, you can still return it under this policy once it arrives.
You also have a legal right to cancel your order at any time from the moment you place it until 14 days after delivery, without giving a reason. Our 30-day returns offer gives you longer than this.
8. Exchanges
We do not swap items directly. If you would like a different item, colour or model, please return the original item for a refund under this policy and place a new order for the item you want. If an item is faulty and you would prefer a replacement of the same item, tell us when you contact us and we will arrange this where it is available.
9. Items that cannot be returned for change of mind
All items currently sold in our store can be returned under this policy. We do not exclude sale items or opened items from our 30-day returns offer, subject to the condition guidance in section 3.
